Ayana Holiday Resort is located less than a kilometre from the Kinabalu Park Headquarters. It has 17 rooms in total and can accommodate up to 43 persons. The overall design of this place is contemporary, simple, with very clean rooms.
Surrounded by temperate forests and situated at an altitude around 6,000 feet (1,829 meter) above sea level, the accommodation facilities inside the Kinabalu Park are some of the best that one can find at this holiday resort. These accommodations consist of chalets, cabins, as well as dormitories. Guests who stay at the park also have easy access to the other park facilities like restaurants, exhibition centre, nature trails and the botanic garden. Lately bird watching is also a popular activity at the park.
Mt. Kinabalu is one of the Sabah premier tourist destinations, and during local school holidays and public holidays, many of the accommodations are always packed to its limit. Many locals would escape from the warm and humid condition of the hot tropical lowland, to enjoy a cooling and peaceful atmosphere around the highland regions surrounding Mt. Kinabalu. Consider as a mid-range accommodation, Kinabalu Rose Cabin was established more than a decade ago. It has a total of 27 rooms which are divided into three types: Hibiscus, Clivia, and Rafflesia. These rooms are not five-star but they are clean and comfortable. The Rafflesia Room can sleep 16 persons. It is also well poised for climbers who are planning for an assault at the summit, since it is located less than 2km from the Kinabalu Park registration office. One must registered with the Sabah Park authority before permits are issued for the climbing of Mt. Kinabalu.
Mount Kinabalu Holiday Home offers great privacy, as it is hidden away from the public eyes. Only a small 300 metre road to lead you to this quiet and serene holiday home.
