Sandakan is the gateway to all things wild in Sabah. The Turtle Islands Park, Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary and Kinabatangan River Safari, are all with-in reach of Sandakan town. While many visitors choose to stay near the forest, not every one would want to do that. For those that prefer the comfort of city life, Four Points by Sheraton Sandakan is a splendid place to be. Four Points has a five star rating. Situated right on the water front, Four Points is part of the Sandakan Harbour Square development. Its 27 floor building is adjourning to an indoor shopping mall. For a taste of all things local, the town market is located next to the hotel and the main shop-lots of Sandakan is just a few blocks away. The waterfront pedestrian-walk situated on the entrance of Four Points also offers guests a scenic view of the Sulu Sea.
Four Points offers 300 guest rooms and suites. These rooms are marvelous, modern, comfortable and most of them come with a waterfront view. For a start the rooms are spacious, if compared with other hotels in town. Next the beds are huge plus it comes with good quality mattresses, pillows and beddings. Guests are guaranteed of a good night’s rest. The rooms are also equipped with LCD TV, LED bedside lamp, electronic safe, and a small fridge. A special feature of the hotel is that the hall ways and rooms are decorated with nostalgia old pictures, most are from the era before the Second World War.
The swimming pool on the 13th floor can be attested as being one of the best in Sabah. It has a visual effect as if the pool and the sea are one. There is also a children’s pool beside the main one. The view up here is also great, the port areas, part of the old shop-lots, Trig Hill and the Pasir Puteh area (the beach area) can all be seen by the naked eyes. For those who love to exercise in a gym room, some of the latest equipment is provided for the guests on the same floor as the swimming pool. Four Points also has nine different rooms with an area of 1,600 square metres to cater for function like conference, meeting and special event.
The Best Brews, a bar of the first floor, offers guests a great place to chill and mingle in the evening. Cocktail, liquor, local and international beers, are all available. Snack and burger can be ordered too. There are also big LCD televisions to show live sporting events. The cafeteria on the entrance offers cakes and tea. A good place to catch the in coming sea breezes especially in the late afternoon. The whole-day dining restaurant beside the pool is also a nice place to be. The breakfast buffet here is wonderful, a great variety of food from western to local style is here for you to choose from. Apart from good food, the seating areas are cosy and nicely designed too. Looking for a good view, the three sides of the seating areas can be divided into three sections, and each offers guests a different views of the sea.
Sabah is well known for its hospitality of its friendly local people. The workers at Four Points are a testament to that, not only are they well trained but most of them are very courteous too. Surely guests will have a memorial stay here.
