Another advantage of staying at Hotel Suang Hee is its centre location in KK. If one chooses to walk from here instead, one can save much from the taxi fares too. Just two streets away is the popular Gaya Street where every sunday a special market is held. Take a short walk and in no time one will reach Wisma Merdeka Shopping Centre and Suria Sabah, a very trendy mall. Walk towards north for less than a kilometre one will reach Jesselton Point, which is the main jetty where visitors depart for the islands. The areas around Hotel Suang Hee do have many eateries as well as sundry shops, very convenient for the visitors indeed. Fast Food joints like KFC and Burger King are right around the corner. The City Park Bus Terminal and the Padang Terminal are also not far from here.
Here is a short account on the Segama shopping area. This land was originally a sea front. The land reclamation took place during the early 1970s and by 1975 the Segama shoplots had been completed and ready for business. For about a decade the shoplots here were the main place to come and bargain for the latest fashions and trendy stuffs in KK. This eventually faded away when new shopping malls were opened in the late 80s. Yet there are still many businesses at the Segama Shoplots today.
How to get there? Search for Tun Razak Street in down town KK, this street also links the coastal highway and Haji Saman street. Tun Razak Street is also parallel to the beach street. Then look for the first row of shops (Block F) at Segama commercial complex. Hotel Suang Hee is located at the middle of the block which is also close to the General post office and the long overhead bridge. Note: the entrance is at the back alley.
