The Mabul Island has two interesting sides, on one side it houses all the exclusive accommodations, and the other side is where all the budget homestay accommodations are located. Situated on the side of the budget stay, as well as nestle among the villager houses and just 500 metres out to the sea is the Billabong Scuba. Built on top of the sea bed with stilts and wooden structure, the Billabong Scuba building is shaped like a letter “U”. The sleeping rooms are located on both of the parallel lengths, while the dinning hall, reception and the common area are placed in the middle. Guests will be able to enjoy free Wifi service at the dinning hall. Billabong Scuba has a total of just 16 rooms and these rooms are divided into three categories, namely Air-Conditioner Room, Fan Room, and Basic Room.
If one comes from Semporna town, the speed boat will bring one right on the door step of the Billabong Scuba jetty, which is connected to the common area with a long walkway. Apart from providing guests with a budget stay, Billabong Scuba does organise daily diving and snorkelling trips. Trips to Mabul and Kapalai Island are on a daily basic. Sipadan diving and snorkelling trip can also be arranged but that would depend on availability of permits. On diving gears and equipment, Billabong Scuba also does not disappoint, as it has a good range of scuba gear likes scuba clothing, scuba BDC, and regulator for rental. PADI certified divers are welcome here.

Most of the inhabitants of the island are either fishermen or traditional boat builders. For scenic views, Billabong Scuba has some thing special to offer, as it is located on the sunset side of the island, early evening view can be filled with golden and red sky. On a clear day, one can see the prefect sunset from here, as the sun goes under the horizon.
