Yoshimi is a rather small Japanese restaurant that has only about eight tables which can sit four to six persons each. Nice and simple Japanese designs make this restaurant interior looks quite cozy and most of all, very Japanese. Waiters are courteous and efficient. Unlike most other Japanese restaurants in town, no laugh shouting of welcome here, giving this place a feel more to home. Although this restaurant is small, the menu here is huge. Some 20 or more pages to flip through. With limited seats and good tasty food this place is easily filled up, so one might want to make a booking before coming here.
Types of Japanese food offered by Yoshimi includes bento, dinner course, deep fried dishes, rice box, and also noodle. The bento sets are only available during the lunch hours. As many as 18 different sets of bento are prepared by the chef at Yoshimi daily, these bento sets are priced from RM 16 to RM 30. Every day Yoshimi will have a special bento offer at lunch time with a very affordable price of RM 16.00.
At dinner time clients will have to choose from the many different types of dinner courses at Yoshimi. Main ingredients for clients to choose from are fish, prawns, beef and chicken. The dinner course normally consists of two main dishes, a vegetable dish, soup, and rice or noodle. A specially prepared yummy steamed egg dish is also included in most of the dinner sets. The prices for dinner course range from RM 35 to RM 50.
To add more varieties of food and taste to your main course, you can always choose from the deep fried dishes. These dishes include item like crispy pregnant fish roll, crispy prawn, crispy oyster, crispy scallop, and crispy soft shell crab. Prices for deep fried dishes range from RM 14 to RM 28.
To have a less heavy meal go for the rice box or noodle. The rice box set comes with a selected item with rice on a box and a soup. Some of these items are assorted raw fish, fresh sliced salmon, grilled cod fish, crispy prawn, simmered chicken and simmered beef. The rice boxes range from RM 20 to RM 35.
There are five types of noodles to choose from at Yoshimi, namely hot wheat noodle, buckwheat noodle, thin wanton noodle, and thinnest wheat noodle, and flat noodle. Select any of these noodle and mixed it with 12 different style of vegetable and meats combination. Prices for noodle set are from RM 15 to RM 25.
What kind of Japanese restaurant that does not offer sushi? There is no different here with Yoshimi, about 20 types of sushi are available. Types of sushi here include ingredients like eel, octopus, tuna, salmon, sea urchin, marinated squid, and etc. These sushi are prices from RM 3 to RM 6.
It would be much cheaper to order them in set, like the Yoshimi Sushi Platter with 20 pieces of assorted sushi for only RM 50.00. This makes the sushi cost down to only RM 2.50 each, now that puts a lot of smile on most people face. On every Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays, from 2:30 pm to 4 pm, Yoshimi gives clients a special treat on sushi. All sushi get 10% off at that time. How to go there? Go to Tun Fuad Stepen Street near the waterfront of Kota Kinabalu. From there search for Warisan Square, next look for Block C which is facing the Tun Fuad Stephen Street.
