Many people do not know that just 300 meters away from the entrance to Kinabalu Park Headquarters lie a few small but quality living lodges called J Residence. Surrounded by the dipterocarp forest, and out of sight of the busy Tamparuli-Ranau road, J Residence is no doubt the best hide-away residence in Tinompok. Although one can’t get a Mt. Kinabalu view from here, the surrounding green forest and the Bundu Tuhan Valley below more than make up for it. J Residence lodges are mostly built with wooden materials, giving the place a very natural feel and blending well with the nature outdoor. Note: J Residence is also a registered trademark
Ten rooms, including the three rooms in the Villa, are available for booking. Seven rooms are divided into four lodges call House. These Houses go by the numbers from 1 to 5, excluding number 4, which the Chinese thinks is a bad omen. So with the villa, all together there are five houses in J Residence. House 2, 3, and 5 have two rooms each. Both the rooms in House 2 have double beds, while the rooms at House 3 and 5 have one queen bed and one single bed. All rooms come with an attached washroom. Standard facilities are 21” LCD TV, no stallite TVs here but guests have many DVD movies to choose from. Only House 2 and House 3 have cooking facilities. All rooms have a balcony, special mention go to house 2 and 5 which have even larger balcony space than the others.
Located at a corner, House 1 is a studio unit, with its own small living area which consists of a two seater sofa, a small LCD TV, and a cupboard at the corner. House one has a twin bed, and it also has a slightly bigger washroom. All the washrooms at J Residence are unique. Rocks and pebbles are laid on the washroom floors, giving these washrooms a sense of being at the outdoor. J Residence also provides daily house keeping service.
The Villa located at the centre of J Residence has three bed rooms, each room with its own attached bathroom. A spacious living room, a classy dining room and a big kitchen make up the rest of the Villa. The Villa is great for a family get together.

The BBQ stoves at J Lounge are available for rent, only occupants of the Villa have free use of the BBQ stoves. The deck has splendid view of the Bundu Tuhan Valley. The view here is very greenish, with green rolling hills and farming village making up most of the scenery. For restaurants, there is one just 100 meters away, the Bayu Restaurant, and the parks restaurants is just 300 metres from J Residence.
